in 1858, an inventor and tin smith from New York City,
John L. Mason, invented the mason jar
a practical to jar with a reusable, screw-on, lid
easy to use and affordable Mason jars inspired home canning across the nation
farmers, homesteaders and settlers, urban families,
all began family traditions of canning
they kept sauces, pickles, relishes, fruit and tomatoes
…what would you do with a Mason jar?
I love Mason jars!! My favorite use is for either a glass of ice cold, homemade iced tea or an icy cold beer – both enjoyed in the heat of the summer!
I’ll be honest…never thought to put those darn fridge magnets in one for storage – good idea!
Stopping by from SITS…enjoy your day!
Just about the same thing you use your for. Must have learned that from home!
I don’t really use mason jars much, but I did in my illustration of the oil and the flour that were miraculous multiplied in the Bible. The kids couldn’t believe it was real oil and flour, I don’t know why (perhaps because they know I don’t bake…).
